Inquirer Founding Chair Eugenia Apostol Dies at 100

Eugenia Duran Apostol, founding chair of the Philippine Daily Inquirer known as Eggie, died in her sleep Sept. 13 at 100. She spent over five decades in journalism and became a leader in the alternative press, independent outlets outside state control. She would have turned 101 Sept. 29.
