NASA Orbiter Finds Largest Recent Crater on Moon

NASA said its Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter found the McGetchin crater on the Moon, 728 feet wide and 141 feet deep with steep sides. Reported Sept. 15, 2026, it is described as the largest modern-day crater in the solar system, spanning roughly two football fields.
