British Auditor Rescued in Malawi After Deadly Police Shootout

Malawian police say they rescued British auditor Nusrat Osman, 47, on Thursday in Mpemba/Chadzunda outside Blantyre. Four alleged kidnappers, armed with an AK47 rifle and pistol, were killed in the exchange of gunfire. Osman, originally from Leicester, was taken outside her Blantyre home on 11 September. Police had offered a 30 million kwacha, Malawi's currency, reward for information.
