British Woman Saved in Malawi After Being Kidnapped

Police in Malawi say they rescued British auditor Nusrat Osman, 47, who checks accounts, on Thursday in Mpemba/Chadzunda outside Blantyre. Four accused kidnappers with guns — an AK47 rifle and pistol — died in a gunfight. Osman, originally from Leicester, was taken outside her Blantyre home on 11 September. Police had offered 30 million kwacha, Malawi's money, for information.
