Beekeepers seek per-colony aid to survive winter after U.S. tariff

The Canadian Beekeepers Federation wants Ottawa to pay a temporary amount for each bee colony to keep farms running through winter. It says U.S. buyers, who take about 60 per cent of Canadian honey, will stop buying after Washington set a 50-per-cent import tax in August. Most honey comes from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
