Victorian Detective Charged Over Alleged Assault of Handcuffed Teen

Victoria’s anti-corruption watchdog, IBAC, has charged a detective senior constable with common assault — unlawful use of force — over an October 2025 arrest in Ballarat. It alleges he repeatedly punched and kicked a handcuffed teenager under 18 who was compliant after arrest. He is due in Ballarat Magistrates’ Court on 26 October. A charge is an allegation, not proof.
