Victoria Detective Accused of Hurting a Handcuffed Teen

Victoria’s police watchdog, IBAC, has charged a detective — a plainclothes investigating officer — with assault over an October 2025 arrest in Ballarat. It says he repeatedly punched and kicked a teenager under 18 after arrest, while handcuffed and following instructions. He is due in Ballarat Magistrates’ Court, the local court, on 26 October. A charge means accused, not guilty.
