Lords Ends Tie Rule, Commons Keeps It

Men no longer must wear a tie in the House of Lords chamber, the Lords' debating room. The rule now requires "business attire," and Erskine May, Parliament's procedural guide, says that need not include a tie. The Commons still expects ties. This likely won't affect procedure, but it sets different formality standards.
