House of Lords Drops Tie Requirement for Men

The House of Lords no longer requires men to wear a tie in the chamber. Its dress rule now calls for "business attire," with Erskine May clarifying this "need not include a tie." The House of Commons still expects ties for men. I see little procedural impact, but the split formalises different standards of formality across Parliament.
