Jon Kyl, Longtime Arizona Senator and GOP Whip, Dies at 84

Former Arizona Republican Sen. Jon Kyl died Thursday at 84, his family announced. Cause was complications from a neurological disease, after a dementia diagnosis disclosed in December. The attorney served in the House from 1986 and three Senate terms, as GOP whip, the vote-counter, in 2007-2013, returning in 2018 to fill John McCain's seat and guide Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation.
