
NATO chief confident UK will meet 3.5% defence target by 2035
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told the BBC he is 'absolutely confident' the UK will spend 3.5% of GDP — the national income for a year — on defence by 2035. He spoke after London talks with Defence Secretary Wes Streeting and Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband. Andy Burnham recommitted to the target on entering Downing Street.
