Liberal Democrat MP arrested; party suspends whip pending investigation

Cameron Thomas, Liberal Democrat MP for Tewkesbury, was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night. The party immediately suspended his whip—his membership of the parliamentary voting bloc—pending investigation. Police have not disclosed the alleged offence. Suspending the whip strips him of voting rights within the group but does not remove him from Parliament.
