Liberal Democrat MP arrested; party suspends whip pending investigation

Cameron Thomas, the Liberal Democrat MP for Tewkesbury, was arrested by Gloucestershire Police on Wednesday night. The party immediately suspended his whip pending the outcome of the investigation. Gloucestershire Police have not disclosed the nature of the alleged offence, and Thomas has made no public statement. The suspension strips him of voting rights within the parliamentary group but does not remove him from the Commons.
