Syria hands down first verdicts in March 2025 coastal killings

A military court in Aleppo has issued the first verdicts for the March 2025 killings of Alawites on Syria's coast. Two backers of the ousted government received death and life sentences, a former forces member got 20 years, and a fourth defendant was acquitted. More indictments, or formal charges, will test whether Damascus delivers on promised justice.
