U.S. Extends Visa Ban on Palestinian Leaders Ahead of U.N. Assembly

Palestinian leaders will remain barred from U.S. visas ahead of the U.N. General Assembly, the State Department said Sept. 17, 2026. Washington blames the Palestinian Authority and PLO for not reforming and for pursuing statehood outside negotiations. Regular staff at the Palestinian U.N. mission remain exempt under the U.S.-U.N. headquarters deal.
