L.A. Homeless Nonprofit Leader Charged in $7.5 Million Fraud Case

Federal prosecutors charged Michael Young, 46, founder of Culver City nonprofit Home At Last, with wire fraud — fraud carried out by electronic transfers — for allegedly taking over $7.5 million from Los Angeles County homelessness contracts. Prosecutors say he routed taxpayer money through shell companies into a nightclub, bingo hall and upscale restaurant. Arrested Sept. 16.
