Half of US Adults Report Lifetime Physical Violence, National Survey Finds

More than half of US adults — 52% of women and 52% of men — say they have faced physical violence in their lifetimes, including gun or knife attacks, researchers report. The finding comes from the 2025 USVEX survey by Tulane University and UC San Diego, which polled 2,720 adults across all 50 states.
