Register Lists 45 Clergy as Slave-Trade Investors

A newly digitised Register of British Slave Traders, led by Professor William Pettigrew, names 45 Church of England clergy as investors in Britain's nearly 250-year transatlantic slave trade. Their money helped fund hundreds of slave voyages and the 1720 relaunch of the Royal African Company, the largest single trafficker of enslaved people.
