Register names 45 Church of England clergy as slave-trade investors

A newly digitised Register of British Slave Traders identifies 45 Church of England clergymen as investors in Britain's nearly 250-year transatlantic slave trade. Their funds helped finance hundreds of voyages and the 1720 relaunch of the Royal African Company, which trafficked more people than any other single organisation. Project led by Professor William Pettigrew.
