National proposes Foodstuffs split to lower grocery prices

National says it would split Foodstuffs in two to bring grocery prices down, if the Commerce Commission — the market watchdog — backs the move after a review. The two Foodstuffs co-operatives, which run New World, Pak'nSave and Four Square, would become separate Pak'nSave and New World/Four Square chains, alongside Woolworths, according to RNZ.
