Harper says Canada must reduce reliance on U.S.

Former prime minister Stephen Harper told the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto on Sept. 15 that Canada must reduce its reliance on the United States. He said Washington now treats close economic ties as incompatible with Canadian independence, calling that view 'sad.' He added Canada has 'no choice' but to lessen dependence.
