Harper says Canada has no choice but to reduce reliance on U.S.

Former prime minister Stephen Harper told the Canada Investment Summit in Toronto on Sept. 15 that Canada must reduce reliance on the United States. He said it was clear the U.S. views economic integration as incompatible with Canada's sovereignty, calling that "sad". He said: "It leaves no choice but for Canada to pursue diminished reliance on the U.S."
