Government releases final Phillips inquiry report, accepts advice

On 15 September 2026, the Government released the final report of the public inquiry — a formal investigation — into the disappearance of the Phillips children and accepted its recommendations. It apologised to the children, saying “we are deeply sorry”, RNZ reported. The inquiry covered their almost four-year disappearance, which ended when Tom Phillips was shot on 8 September 2025.
