Government releases Phillips inquiry report and apologises to children

On 15 September 2026, the Government released the final report of the Public Inquiry into the Disappearance of the Phillips children and accepted its recommendations. It apologised to the children, saying "we are deeply sorry", according to RNZ. The inquiry covered their almost four-year disappearance, which ended when Tom Phillips was shot on 8 September 2025.
