Government shares findings on Phillips children and says sorry

On 15 September 2026, the Government shared the final report of the public inquiry, a check on what happened to the Phillips children, and agreed to follow its advice. It said sorry to the children, saying “we are deeply sorry”, RNZ reported. The inquiry covered their almost four-year disappearance, which ended when Tom Phillips was shot on 8 September 2025.
