Phillips given care of children after 18-day disappearance

Tom Phillips was given day-to-day care of his three children by a court in October 2021, the inquiry says. That was weeks after he took them for 18 days in September 2021. He left Marokopa, Waikato, with them in December 2021 and stayed hidden for nearly four years. Police later shot him dead.
