Patel Defends FBI Hiring Rule Change on Past Bestiality

FBI Director Kash Patel told a Sept. 15, 2026 Senate Judiciary oversight hearing the FBI ended automatic rejection of applicants with past bestiality in their history. Patel said the old rule blocked trafficking victims who had been forced into such acts from joining. Sen. John Kennedy said the change damaged the FBI's reputation.
