Patel defends FBI decision to lift automatic hiring bar over past bestiality

FBI Director Kash Patel told a Sept. 15, 2026 Senate Judiciary oversight hearing the FBI removed automatic disqualification for past bestiality because "we did not want to punish victims of bestiality, victims who were trafficked." He said trafficking victims had been denied jobs. Sen. John Kennedy said the change hurt the FBI's reputation.
