Borneo Wildfire Closes In on Orangutan Research Camp

Wildfires in Borneo's Gunung Palung National Park have reached within 200 metres of Rangkong station, a smaller outpost of the Cabang Panti orangutan research camp. Scientists say the fire could reach the main camp in 20 days without action or wide cleared barriers, called firebreaks. Over 40 staff, assistants and villagers are defending Rangkong.
