Borneo fires burn within 200 metres of orangutan research station

Wildfires in Gunung Palung National Park, Borneo, have burned within 200 metres of Rangkong station, a satellite of the Cabang Panti orangutan research camp. Scientists say fire will reach Cabang Panti in 20 days without intervention or large firebreaks. More than 40 staff, field assistants and villagers are defending Rangkong.
