Etna Ash Grounds Catania Flights Until Tuesday Night
All flights in and out of Catania International Airport in Sicily are halted until 10 p.m. local time Tuesday after Mount Etna's ash cloud spread over eastern Sicily. The stoppage started Monday. Etna, Europe's tallest active volcano at 3,324 metres, lies about 40km away. Catania, Italy's fifth-busiest airport, handles about 12 million passengers a year.
