Sicily Airport Closed Until Tuesday Night by Volcano Ash

No planes are landing or taking off at Catania International Airport in Sicily until 10 p.m. local time Tuesday because ash from Mount Etna blew over eastern Sicily. The shutdown began Monday. Etna, Europe's tallest live volcano at 3,324 metres, is about 40km away. Catania, Italy's fifth-busiest airport, serves about 12 million travelers yearly.
