Houkura to lose votes on Auckland Council committees

Local Government Minister Simon Watts said Houkura, Auckland Council's Independent Māori Statutory Board, will lose its votes on council committees under changes to the Local Government (System Improvements) Amendment Bill. He said legal advice found the board in scope. Members can still attend, speak and advise, but not vote like elected members.
