Auckland Māori board to lose council vote

Local Government Minister Simon Watts said Houkura, the board that advises Auckland Council on Māori issues, will lose its vote on council committees under the Local Government (System Improvements) Amendment Bill. He said legal advice included the board. Members can still attend, speak and advise, but not vote like elected members.
