EPA Repeals 2024 Power-Plant Emissions Rules

The Environmental Protection Agency on Sept. 14, 2026 finalized repeal of 2024 greenhouse gas standards for coal and gas plants. Those rules required plants to eliminate most emissions by 2039 or close. The agency also proposed removing all remaining power-sector greenhouse gas limits under Section 111 of the Clean Air Act, the law authorizing such regulation.
