EPA Finalizes Repeal of 2024 Power-Plant Greenhouse Gas Rules

The Environmental Protection Agency finalized repeal of 2024 greenhouse gas standards for coal and natural gas power plants on Sept. 14, 2026. The repealed rules required most emissions eliminated by 2039 or closure. EPA concurrently proposed rescinding all remaining power-sector greenhouse gas requirements under Clean Air Act Section 111.
