EPA Ends 2024 Pollution Rules for Power Plants

The Environmental Protection Agency on Sept. 14, 2026 ended 2024 rules limiting heat-trapping pollution from coal and gas power plants. Those rules required plants to cut almost all such pollution by 2039 or shut down. The agency also proposed ending all other remaining limits on that pollution from power plants under Section 111 of the clean-air law.
