McConnell Back in Senate After 3-Month Medical Absence

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., returned to the U.S. Senate on Sept. 14, 2026, his first public appearance in over 90 days, NPR reported. The 84-year-old former majority leader, the chamber's past top Republican, last voted June 14 before hospitalization for a fall and illness. He said in 2025 he would not seek another term and leaves when this Congress ends.
