
McConnell Returns to Senate After Months-Long Medical Absence
Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., returned to the U.S. Senate on Sept. 14, 2026, his first public appearance in over 90 days, NPR reported. The 84-year-old former majority leader last voted June 14 before hospitalization for a fall and illness. He announced in 2025 he would not seek another term and leaves office at the end of the current Congress.
