Senator McConnell Returns After Months Away for Health Reasons

Senator Mitch McConnell, a Republican from Kentucky, returned to the Senate on Sept. 14, 2026, his first public appearance in over 90 days, NPR reported. The 84-year-old, once the top Senate Republican, last voted June 14 before hospitalization for a fall and illness. He said in 2025 he will not run again and leaves office when the two-year Congress ends.
