Finland Joins French Nuclear Plan as 10th Partner

Finland agreed to join France's Forward Deterrence Initiative, becoming the 10th European participant, announced 14 September 2026 in Helsinki. A joint steering group will handle exercises and consultation. President Alexander Stubb said it is "first and foremost about strengthening European security" and does not replace NATO's nuclear deterrence, the allies' shared protection.
