Finland Joins France's Nuclear Protection Team

Finland agreed to join France's Forward Deterrence Initiative, now 10 European countries, announced in Helsinki on 14 September 2026. A shared nuclear team will run training and crisis talks. President Alexander Stubb said it is "first and foremost about strengthening European security" and does not replace NATO's nuclear protection, like a shared umbrella.
