Finland Joins France's Nuclear Deterrent as 10th European Partner

Finland has agreed to join France's Forward Deterrence Initiative, becoming the 10th European participant, announced 14 September 2026 in Helsinki. A joint nuclear steering group will implement cooperation on exercises and consultation. President Alexander Stubb said it is "first and foremost about strengthening European security" and does not replace NATO's nuclear deterrence.
