Federal Watchdog Confirms Cage Detentions at Alligator Alcatraz

DHS inspectors confirmed guards at Florida's Alligator Alcatraz locked detainees in outdoor phone-booth-sized metal cages 79 times between July 2025 and January 2026, for up to two hours. The watchdog said it violated ICE detention rules and failed humane-treatment standards state officials had dismissed as fabrications.
