DHS watchdog confirms Alligator Alcatraz detainees held in outdoor cages

DHS inspectors confirmed guards at Florida's Alligator Alcatraz locked detainees in outdoor phone-booth-sized metal cages 79 times between July 2025 and January 2026, for up to two hours. The report says the practice "does not align with standards for humane treatment" and violated ICE rules. State officials had previously dismissed such allegations as "fabrications."
