Fed likely to leave interest rates unchanged through 2026

Reuters reported Sept. 9 the Fed is expected to leave rates unchanged at its Sept. 15-16 meeting and through the rest of 2026. Its key rate on bank reserves — the benchmark that guides wider borrowing costs — was last held at 3.65% in July. For savers and borrowers, that means deposit and loan rates likely stay flat.
