Fed expected to keep rates on hold through 2026

Reuters reported Sept. 9 the Fed is expected to hold rates steady at its Sept. 15-16 meeting and through the rest of 2026. It last held the rate on reserve balances at 3.65% in July. For savers and borrowers, that points to loan and deposit rates staying put without a fresh push either way.
