71-year-old motorcyclist dies in reported pothole crash west of Ballarat

A 71-year-old man from Ballarat died at the scene on the Western Highway near Trawalla Road, west of Ballarat, shortly before 1pm Sunday. Police were called after reports his motorcycle hit a pothole — a damaged dip in the road — and he lost control. Police say the exact circumstances are still unclear and are investigating.
