Unvaccinated Jefferson County woman's measles death is third in U.S. in 2026

A 40-year-old woman in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, died Sept. 12 from measles complications, the county medical examiner announced Sept. 13. The Washington Post, citing the examiner, reported she was unvaccinated. It is the third U.S. measles death in 2026, after two in Lancaster County in August.
