Unvaccinated Pennsylvania woman dies of measles, third U.S. death in 2026

A 40-year-old woman in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, died of measles complications on Sept. 12, the county medical examiner announced Sept. 13. The Washington Post, citing the examiner, reported she was unvaccinated. It is the third U.S. measles death in 2026, after two August deaths in Lancaster County.
